The menus have been improved.  Previously, the menu item required a click to open the main page referenced by that menu item.  This can still be done but the main page now also shows as part of the drop down menu sub-list.

The definitions for seal orientations have been tweaked a bit in order to make those definitions more general.  At first glance, this revision might seem to make the SealFAQs definitions differ from the API 682 definitions however, there really is no conflict.  Note that although SealFAQs includes much information about API 682, SealFAQs is much more general.  To save you a click or two, the revised definitions read

back-to-back = Dual seal in which both of the seal rings are mounted between the mating rings.

Face-to-face = Dual seal in which both of the mating rings are mounted between the seal rings.

Face-to-back = Dual seal in which one mating ring is mounted between the two seal rings and one seal ring is mounted between the two mating rings.

Added content (text and some illustrations) to the place holder page “Failure Analysis of Faces“.   This subject still needs some additional illustrations and photographs but should be helpful as is.  I’ll eventually get better at making the illustrations and will continue to add to this page.

February 21, 2018

Added a new page, “Rigid Body Rotation” to explain and illustrate the concept of negative and positive face angles.  The formulas and procedure is not shown but the general idea is to use ring theory to approximate the effects of pressure on the seal face angle.

January 23, 2018

Completed the page “Storage” regarding how to store seal parts and new pumps before using.  This page had previously been blank and was only a place holder.
